Optimal Bulldog Care
Caring for you bulldog can be a lot of work, but it does not have to be. Bulldogs are relatively low maintenance dogs. Basic bulldog care entails weekly brushing, exercising and feeding a proper diet.
Grooming
Bulldogs have short hair coats that only require occasional brushing and maybe a bath once a month. You don’t want to bath them too frequently otherwise you’ll dry out their skin.
Nails should be trimmed regularly to keep your dog walking comfortably. You can buy a dog nail trimmers at most pet stores.
Exercise
French and English bulldogs do not require that much exercise, a walk around the block a couple of times a day should do it. American Bulldogs do require much more exercise and that should include some time to run off leash.
Health and Feeding
Although bulldogs are prone to certain genetic problems, the biggest problem they face is obesity. Bulldogs should only be fed twice a day. Do not leave food out for them all day long, this can lead to overeating and obesity.
Veterinary Visits
You should have annual check ups for your bulldog at the vet clinic. As your dog enters the senior years, it is recommended that you actually go twice a year to catch problems early.
Summary
Bulldog care is not that hard, but you are responsible for providing the best care you can for your dogs so do not take it lightly. You can make a big difference in the quality of your dog’s life.
